Position Summary

The Engineer II/III - Pipeline Safety role at Williams Companies in Houston, Texas, is perfect for mid-to-senior level engineers passionate about regulatory compliance, pipeline integrity, and safety in the natural gas industry. Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance & Inspections

  • Coordinate with state and federal regulators (DOT PHMSA/State Agencies) to facilitate inspections.
  • Engage with projects for design reviews ensuring DOT 192/195 compliance.
  • Complete regulatory assurance through internal audits and acquisition integrations.

Reporting & Research

  • Coordinate accident notifications to the National Response Center and complete PHMSA accident reporting.
  • Research regulatory interpretations, identify organizational impacts, and track DOT/state rule-making for procedure updates.
  • Review forms and procedures for regulatory compliance.

Project Leadership & Collaboration

  • Perform moderately difficult assignments requiring technical evaluation, innovation, and judgement.
  • Work independently on mid-sized projects supporting operations while maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations; lead small, specialized teams to resolve technical and project issues.
  • Collaborate with teams on compliance, improvement plans, and training needs; champion processes, procedures, and safety standards.

Other duties as assigned, covering multiple engineering specialties.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Engineer II: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field from an accredited institution, OR Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology with Professional Engineer (P.E.) license; minimum 2 years engineering experience in natural gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Engineer III: Same education requirements; minimum 4 years multifaceted engineering experience in natural gas or petrochemical industry.

Skills & Other Requirements

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; safety as utmost priority.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and PC skills.
  • Strong understanding of industry/operational requirements, company processes, and governing agency guidelines.
  • Preferred: FE Certification, Project Management experience.

Candidates must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of safety requirements, ability to interpret customer needs, and proficiency in producing results.
