CrowdStrike stands as a global leader in cybersecurity, safeguarding people, processes, and technologies that power modern organizations. Since 2011, our unwavering mission has been to stop breaches using the world's most advanced AI-native platform, the Falcon platform. We process nearly 3 trillion events daily across large-scale distributed systems, with traffic growing exponentially. Serving customers across all industries, CrowdStrike ensures businesses run smoothly, communities stay safe, and lives move forward securely. Our remote-first culture fosters flexibility and autonomy, empowering every CrowdStriker to own their career with limitless passion, relentless innovation, and fanatical commitment to customers, community, and each other.

Role Overview

The Engineer III - Cloud SDET - Lightning role on our Detections Platform team is pivotal in validating cloud-side software that feeds critical information to the Falcon endpoint agent. Operating under tight latency constraints at massive scale, this hybrid position (2-3 days on-site in Sunnyvale, CA) involves building end-to-end validation pipelines. You'll leverage existing frameworks while innovating when needed, ensuring low-latency malware prevention, event processing at thousands per second, and accurate data queries across terabytes. In a quality-first culture, you'll use cutting-edge tools alongside proven technologies to deliver reliable, high-performance cybersecurity solutions.

Why This Role Matters

The Falcon endpoint agent reacts in near-real-time to evolving threats, relying on seamless cloud-endpoint communication. Your work directly supports this by verifying features spanning processing, data, and customer-facing layers, preventing outages and enhancing platform resilience.

Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, you'll both build and break systems to uphold CrowdStrike's standards:

  • Verify component, system integration, and application-level features for reliability, accuracy, and performance.
  • Participate in code and design reviews, offering technical guidance to team members.
  • Review engineering technical design documents and requirements, advising on testability strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in end-to-end test and validation processes.
  • Expand automated test coverage, contribute to tools and frameworks, and integrate open-source solutions for innovative testing.
  • Collaborate on root cause analysis for production outages, implementing preventive quality enhancements.

Qualifications & Requirements

To thrive, bring these essentials:

  • 5+ years as an SDET or Backend Developer (combined experience).
  • 2-3+ years building testing frameworks and tooling for Cloud SaaS products.
  • Strong debugging prowess to identify design flaws, race conditions, and bottlenecks in complex architectures.
  • Computer science background or equivalent (programming, data structures, algorithms).
  • Experience building, validating, or maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
  • Solid problem-solving with passion for engineering excellence, quality, security, and performance.
  • Strong collaboration and communication across engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with Golang, Python, Kubernetes, Cassandra, Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, or similar (at least one required).

A sense of humor is a plus in our collaborative, high-trust environment.

Benefits & Perks

CrowdStrike rewards top talent with:

  • Competitive salary range of $120,000 - $198,000 USD annually, plus equity.
  • Hybrid flexibility: 2-3 days on-site in Sunnyvale, with remote-friendly policies.
  • Autonomy to manage time, take holidays as needed, and own your career.
  • Access to cutting-edge technologies and opportunities to mentor juniors/seniors.
  • Comprehensive perks supporting work-life balance and professional growth.

Career Growth

Join a welcoming team that values collaboration over competition. You'll contribute to product direction, learn new skills, and advance in a high-trust setting. CrowdStrike's remote-first culture includes occasional travel for in-person connections, fostering innovation and mission alignment. With our scale and growth, this role offers pathways to leadership in cybersecurity testing and development.
