Position Summary

Williams is seeking a highly skilled Engineer III or Sr - Turbines to join our dynamic team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This senior-level role is perfect for turbine engineering experts passionate about gas power generation, generator controls, and rotating equipment. Whether as an Engineer III or Senior Engineer, you'll work independently on sophisticated projects, lead teams, and deliver impactful solutions that enhance our operations and drive clean energy initiatives.

In this position, you'll serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) in gas turbines and reciprocating engines, focusing on generators 5MW and larger. Expect to perform in-depth analyses on equipment reliability, vibration under transient loading, health monitoring, and protection systems. You'll also conduct technical and economic evaluations, oversee performance testing, and contribute to the design and construction of new or upgraded facilities. This role demands innovation, judgment, and the ability to anticipate internal and external business trends while championing safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Expertise and Analysis

  • Serve as SME in gas turbine and reciprocating engine power generation with generator controls technology.
  • Perform technical analysis of various generator manufacturers (5MW+), including reliability, vibration, health with transient loading, and protection.
  • Conduct technical and economic evaluations, performance testing, design, construction of new facilities, upgrades, and research on emerging developments.

Project Leadership and Innovation

  • Handle diverse, sophisticated assignments using experience, innovation, and judgment.
  • Anticipate customer needs, interpret business challenges, and improve products, processes, or services.
  • Monitor and control costs/resources for large-scope projects; recommend policy/procedure enhancements.
  • May supervise others and direct team efforts on major initiatives.

Communication and Compliance

  • Prepare and deliver compelling technical presentations to management.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure regulatory compliance, develop improvement plans, and address training needs.
  • Champion processes, procedures, and safety standards as a top priority.

Required Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in relevant Engineering field from an accredited institution, OR Bachelor’s in Engineering Technology with Professional Engineer (P.E.) license. Minimum 8 years of multifaceted engineering experience in natural gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s in Engineering with 7+ years progressive experience, PE Certification. Master of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Executive MBA.

Skills and Other Requirements

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC skills; expertise in multiple engineering specialties.
  • Specialist in rotating equipment, particularly reciprocating turbines.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills; safety-first mindset.
  • Preferred: Project management experience.
  • Ability to work independently, lead teams, and present confidently.

For Engineer III: Extensive process knowledge to evaluate, innovate, and manage multiple projects, including leading small teams.

For Engineer Sr: Advanced ability to advise management, direct others, and handle large-scope projects with strategic foresight.
