The Engineering Manager, Managed Services role on the BootStack team offers a unique opportunity for technologists passionate about Linux and cloud technologies. BootStack designs, builds, and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure, spanning Kubernetes, OpenStack, and beyond. In this globally remote position, you will manage engineers handling day-to-day managed services for customer environments. This includes customer service management, operations, and continuous product improvements. Success demands close collaboration with customers, product engineering, and operations teams in a fast-paced, cutting-edge environment.
As Engineering Manager, you will lead a growing team to deliver high-quality managed services worldwide. Core duties include managing team performance to optimize development and operations velocity; identifying and tracking health indicators; implementing robust engineering and operations processes; representing the BootStack team to stakeholders and customers; ensuring alignment on priorities, milestones, and deliverables; meeting global service level agreements; and delivering consistent, timely services. Travel is limited to about 20% for team events and customer meetings.
Guide engineers in maintaining Ubuntu-based deployments, fostering a culture of excellence in open source practices.
Bridge technical teams with customer needs, driving satisfaction in complex cloud topologies.
Canonical seeks proven leaders with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a technology field. Essential experience includes professional software delivery in Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar, or managing operations teams; deep OpenStack expertise; commitment to testing and code quality; Linux system administration (Ubuntu/Debian preferred); agile methodologies; distributed team management; technical grasp of complex systems; and cloud technologies knowledge. Strong communication skills and remote collaboration experience are critical.
Demonstrated ability to handle OpenStack, Kubernetes, and Ubuntu in enterprise settings sets top candidates apart.
