Key Responsibilities at Datadog

  • Partner closely with the Sales team to articulate Datadog's overall value proposition, vision, and strategy to enterprise customers.
  • Own all technical engagements during trial phases, communicating value based on customer activities and resolving issues to successful outcomes.
  • Technically close complex opportunities leveraging advanced competitive knowledge, technical skills, and credibility.
  • Deliver engaging product and technical briefings/presentations to potential clients and partners.
  • Maintain accurate notes and feedback in CRM systems regarding customer input on both wins and losses.
  • Proactively engage with customers and internal teams about product feedback and competitive landscape.
  • Support technical evaluations (POVs) and product demonstrations that highlight Datadog's observability strengths.
  • Provide valuable input to the product team to prioritize features based on customer, competitor, and partner insights.
  • Build and execute customized evaluation plans that demonstrate observability risks relevant to customer business needs.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed as an Enterprise Sales Engineer at Datadog, you'll need a blend of technical prowess and sales engineering experience. We're looking for:

  • 3+ years in Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering roles, with proven track record in cloud environments.
  • Strong experience in programming/scripting languages including Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, .NET.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to convey both business benefits and technical advantages.
  • Passion for educating customers on observability risks and ability to build/executive evaluation plans.
  • Comfortable with up to 45% travel (auto, train, air) and ability to sit up to 4 hours for client meetings.

Datadog offers competitive compensation for our Enterprise Sales Engineer - UK role, with estimated base salary ranging from $95,000 - $145,000 USD annually (depending on experience), plus uncapped commissions, bonuses, and equity. Total on-target earnings (OTE) can exceed $200,000+ for top performers.
