Position Summary

Williams is seeking a talented Environmental Specialist III or IV to join our dynamic team in Houston, Texas. This senior-level role demands functional and technical expertise in NEPA processes, water permitting, cultural resources, and natural resource management. You'll manage projects and programs of moderate to high complexity, ensuring regulatory compliance for large-scale energy initiatives. Whether you're handling Level III responsibilities with 4+ years of experience or stepping into the advanced Level IV role requiring 8+ years, this position offers a chance to make a real impact on clean energy projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain environmental policies, processes, and compliance documentation while interpreting federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assess environmental risks, recommend and execute mitigation strategies, including preparation of regulatory documentation.
  • Lead or support project planning activities such as scheduling, cost estimation, impact assessments, and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit complex permit applications, renewals, approvals, and variances; maintain permitting schedules aligned with project milestones.
  • Conduct compliance audits and due diligence; identify training needs and mentor team members.
  • Monitor changes in regulations like FERC, NEPA, Clean Water Act, ESA, and NHPA, evaluating impacts on timelines, costs, and obligations.
  • Develop improvements in air, water, waste management, and remediation; build agency relationships and brief leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned, with safety as the utmost priority.

Required Qualifications

Environmental Specialist IV: Bachelor’s degree and minimum 8 years’ environmental experience.

Environmental Specialist III: Bachelor’s degree and minimum 4 years’ environmental experience.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with a safety-first mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PC applications.
  • Strong knowledge of FERC, NEPA, and state/federal permitting processes.
