The Exec Director, Asset Team Leader - Liver (Gilead Asset Team Leader - GATL) is a senior enterprise leadership position reporting jointly to Commercial and Development Therapeutic Area Heads. Based in Foster City, California, this role leads cross-functional teams managing multiple assets in viral and inflammatory liver diseases, spanning early-phase development to marketed products. As the primary liaison to senior leadership, the GATL shapes asset vision, strategic direction, and lifecycle plans (LCP), ensuring optimal execution across development, manufacturing, and commercialization.
This position demands a strategic thinker with deep expertise in biopharma, adept at navigating complex challenges, fostering collaboration, and delivering results. Lead high-stakes programs that align with Gilead's goals in liver health, contributing to our legacy in HIV, oncology, and inflammatory diseases.
Guide asset teams in crafting and implementing cohesive strategies, aligning with organizational objectives through resource assessment, timeline management, and risk mitigation for liver disease assets.
Enable seamless teamwork by understanding each function's role, promoting transparent information flow, and uniting stakeholders around a shared vision for asset success.
Oversee milestone achievement in partnership with Project Managers, monitoring progress against Target Product Profile (TPP), Asset Plan, and LCP while adhering to timelines and budgets.
Formulate global strategies covering development, manufacturing, commercialization, and lifecycle management, adapting to evolving clinical, regulatory, and commercial landscapes.
Facilitate decisions, conduct scenario planning, present to Portfolio Committees, and build high-performing, inclusive teams that drive innovation in liver therapies.
Candidates must possess an advanced scientific, medical, or commercial background with proven expertise in drug development and commercialization, particularly in viral and inflammatory liver diseases. A track record of enterprise-level leadership is essential, including optimizing asset outcomes across phases. Key capabilities include adept navigation of programmatic complexities, fostering collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and scientific advocacy. Experience in Gilead's therapeutic areas—such as HIV, oncology, and inflammation—preferred, along with skills in risk analysis, governance, and portfolio strategy.
Gilead offers a premium compensation package, including a competitive salary estimated at $350,000-$500,000 annually (based on biopharma executive rates in Foster City, CA with buffer), performance bonuses, and equity.
