The Executive Director, Asset Team Leader - Virology, is a pivotal leadership role at Gilead Sciences in Foster City, California. This position leads cross-functional teams managing multiple assets across respiratory, transplant, and pandemic viral diseases, from early-phase development to marketed products. As a Gilead Asset Team Leader (GATL), you will drive integrated strategies encompassing development, manufacturing, commercialization, and lifecycle management. Lead Gilead asset teams in executing cohesive strategies while aligning with broader organizational goals. Key duties include resource assessment, timeline management, and risk mitigation. Foster cross-functional collaboration, enabling transparent information flow and shared vision. Take accountability for milestones, monitoring against Target Product Profile (TPP), Asset Plan, and Lifecycle Plan (LCP). Develop global strategies adapting to evolving clinical, regulatory, and commercial landscapes. Act as a decision facilitator, resolving high-impact issues and communicating with senior leadership. Build inclusive teams that drive productive debate and execution. Engage stakeholders, ensure operational excellence, and advocate for asset strategies scientifically.
Collaborate with Therapeutic Area Leaders and Business Development to inform disease area strategies, from discovery to lifecycle planning, enhancing Gilead's work in virology, oncology, and inflammatory diseases.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business discipline, with advanced degrees such as MD, PharmD, or PhD strongly preferred. Expertise in drug development, particularly virology, respiratory, transplant, or pandemic diseases, is essential. Proven cross-functional leadership in global initiatives, managing multidisciplinary teams without direct authority, is required. Demonstrate exceptional communication, organizational skills, and the ability to influence senior leaders. A track record of high-impact performance in pharmaceutical or biotech, with comprehensive understanding of asset lifecycle management, sets top candidates apart.
