Key Responsibilities at Rivian

As a Design Release Engineer for Exterior Mechanisms & Glazing, you'll drive innovation in Rivian's vehicle lineup. Key duties include:

• Design and model mechanical and mechatronic systems like Side Mirrors, Wipers, Washer Systems, Chargeport Doors, Glazings, and Tonneau Covers using CATIA V5/3D Experience.
• Develop high-quality 3D parametric data for faster design changes and iterations.
• Prototype and industrialize mechanisms and actuators, interfacing with Studio, Quality, Manufacturing, Software Controls, and Vehicle Attributes.
• Create 2D drawings and LD files with Internal Design Engineers and External Suppliers for timely, high-quality releases.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to produce CAD respecting clearance zones, sweep zones, and system requirements.
• Provide Studio feedback to generate A-surfaces meeting DFM while preserving vehicle aesthetics.
• Generate CAD concepts, detailed 2D sections, and 3D models during early development.
• Manage suppliers and ensure compliance with manufacturing processes like injection molding, die casting, and glass thermoforming.
• Demonstrate knowledge of automotive exteriors from concept to production.

Qualifications & Requirements

To thrive as Rivian's Exterior Mechanisms & Glazing Design Release Engineer, you need:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred).
• 2-3+ years experience in Side Mirrors, Wipers, Washer Systems, Chargeport Doors, Glazings, and automotive mechanisms.
• CATIA V5/V6 proficiency, including Part Design and Geometric Surface Design for 3D geometry and sectional data.
• 2+ years in Automotive Exteriors Mechanisms/Glazing from concept to production.
• Proven supplier management with build-to-print and full-service suppliers.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes: injection molding, high-pressure die casting, glass thermoforming.
• Strong logical reasoning, numeracy, literacy, organizational, and communication skills.
• Highly motivated with a drive for process improvements and quality standards.
