Role Overview

The Financial Specialist I / Assistant II - STS, GFS APAC position in Singapore is a pivotal role within Gilead's Global Finance Services (GFS) for the APAC region. This full-time opportunity involves managing Straight-Through Services (STS) and Order-to-Cash (OTC) processes, contributing to service standards, KPIs, and continuous improvement. You will handle month-end closings for APAC markets, ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders across Japan, Mandarin-speaking regions, and beyond. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will play a critical part in Gilead's financial excellence. Key responsibilities include:

  • Professionally handling STS and OTC processes, following up on and resolving outstanding items and exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Contributing to service standards, managing SLAs with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Defining and maintaining KPIs while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Preparing high-quality month-end closing procedures for APAC markets (or others as needed), ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Maintaining internal controls, upholding company policies including the Worldwide Controller’s manual, and interacting with auditors by providing timely, accurate data.
  • Evaluating processes, recommending and implementing improvements, and developing internal controls for accounting systems.
  • Collaborating with non-financial personnel, delivering training, and working effectively across functions and cultures.
  • Handling ad hoc tasks, with potential for scope changes, job rotations, and travel to Asia as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this role at Gilead Sciences, candidates should demonstrate:

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience, preferably in financial shared services. Entry-level candidates may be considered at Financial Assistant level.
  • An Accounting, Finance, or Business degree is preferable, with ACA/ACCA/CPA qualification highly advantageous.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Japanese (N1 level), Mandarin, and English is mandatory to liaise with Japan and Mandarin-speaking markets.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, experience with external/internal auditors, and detailed knowledge of SOX compliance preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems, plus proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word.
