Role Overview

As a Senior DevOps Engineer specializing in Mainframe systems, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for a mainframe-dominated environment while also supporting an increasing number of server-based DevOps initiatives. Your primary focus will be on integrating mainframe and server development workflows with modern DevOps toolchains, ensuring security, compliance, and optimal pipeline performance. You will also mentor junior CI/CD engineers and play a crucial role in establishing a best-of-breed application containerization service.

A Day in the Life of a Site Reliability Engineer (Mainframe)

Your day-to-day activities will be diverse and challenging, including:

  • Designing and building CI/CD pipelines for Mainframe (Cobol, RPG, CL, JCL) and server-based applications (Java, .NET).
  • Integrating mainframe and server development workflows with tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and Azure DevOps.
  • Consolidating and standardizing source control and release management practices across various platforms (Rocket Aldon, Bitbucket, Jenkins, GitHub, CXOne, Checkmarx, Artifactory, ServiceNow).
