Role Overview

The Fleet Technician 2 (Experienced) Evenings position in Morton, Illinois, is a pivotal role within PBNA's operations. As an experienced fleet mechanic, you'll ensure the reliability of one of North America's largest fleets, supporting drivers and maintaining world-class equipment. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you'll work with high independence on preventive maintenance (PMs) and complex repairs across PepsiCo's diverse fleet, including automobiles, light/heavy trucks, vans, forklifts, and material handling equipment. Daily tasks include performing advanced diagnostics on platforms like Volvo, International, Freightliner, and Maxon, as well as high-level repairs on engines, drivelines, aftertreatment, emissions, and safety systems. You'll adapt to emerging technologies like electric vehicles (EV), CNG, and B100 fuels, diagnose failures, disassemble/repair/reassemble parts, maintain detailed records and pre-trip checklists, respond to service calls, and uphold PepsiCo's safety-first culture. Expect variety with shop tools, ergonomic equipment, and predictive analytics to keep the fleet running smoothly.

Daily Operations

Leverage leading-edge tools for PMs using voice applications and TAAS systems. Handle everything from wheel torqueing to forklift hydraulic repairs, ensuring minimal downtime.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, you need at least 18 years of age, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and pass a forklift driving skills test if applicable. Essential qualifications include Brakes Certification, experience with hydraulic/air brake systems, aftertreatment/emissions repairs on class 6-8 diesel vehicles, driveline repairs, and proficiency with diagnostic platforms like Noregon, Snapon, Nexiq, or Altel. Bring your own basic hand tools—PepsiCo provides diagnostics, ergonomics, and high-tech gear. Helpful experience covers wheel removal/torqueing, parts inventory, independent work, shop tools (hoists, welding, tires), PM programs, computer use (iPad diagnostics), forklift repairs, OEM manuals, and heavy-duty equipment like class 8 trucks, liftgates, and Thermo King units. Physical demands include lifting, bending, climbing, and handling objects.
