The Fleet Technician 2 (Experienced) Evenings position in Munster, Indiana, is a critical role ensuring the reliability of PepsiCo's vast fleet, including light/heavy trucks, vans, automobiles, and forklifts. This evening shift role offers a fast-paced environment with independence, world-class tools, and cutting-edge technology like Noregon diagnostics and Uptake predictive analytics. At $35 per hour, this full-time position supports driver safety and operational efficiency across one of North America's largest fleets. Ideal for seasoned mechanics ready to leverage advanced skills in a supportive team setting.
As a Fleet Technician 2, you'll work with high independence on preventive maintenance (PMs) and complex repairs. Daily tasks include utilizing voice-guided PM apps, performing diagnostics across OEM platforms like Volvo and Freightliner, and executing high-level repairs on engines, drivelines, after-treatment systems, and emissions. You'll adapt to emerging technologies such as electric vehicles (EV), CNG, and B100 fuels, diagnose failures, disassemble/reassemble parts, maintain detailed records, and respond to service calls. Upholding PepsiCo's safety-first culture is paramount, ensuring all work adheres to strict standards.
Expect task variety: from wheel torqueing and brake repairs to forklift maintenance and heavy-duty equipment overhauls. Leverage provided ergonomic tools, engine hoists, and diagnostic equipment while bringing your own basic hand tools.
This role demands proven expertise. Minimum requirements include being 18+, Brakes Certification with hydraulic/air brake experience, class 6-8 diesel repair background (driveline, emissions, engines), and proficiency with diagnostic tools like Noregon or Snap-on. Physical demands involve lifting 50 lbs, bending, climbing, and passing a forklift skills test. Helpful: parts inventory management, PM program experience, computer literacy (iPad diagnostics), and familiarity with OEM manuals or alternative fuels.
Expect frequent lifting, pinching, reaching, and handling objects. Company provides diagnostics, PPE, uniforms, and high-tech gear; you supply basic hand tools.
