Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to mechanical design projects and support development activities.

  • Utilize 3D design software to create detailed models and drawings.

  • Participate in innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in mechanical engineering design and processes.

  • Apply technical expertise in developing new products and product enhancements under guidance.

  • Support technical design reviews for concept solutions, detailed designs, and evaluation of results with cross-functional teams.

  • Assist in development activities at supplier sites, including tooling and manufacturing support.

  • Perform design integration, verification, validation, FMEA, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability analysis/testing.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project outcomes.

  • Support project timelines and deliverables to ensure on-time completion.

  • Adhere to GEHC standards, industry standards, medical device safety, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4  years of related experience.

  • Experience in mechanical product design, electronics packaging design, and familiarity with plastic, metal, and injection molding parts design and manufacturing processes.

  • Proficiency with CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks); experience with Ansys for structural and thermal analysis is desirable.

  • Exposure to full product cycle from concept to production.

  • Experience in Verification and Validation testing of hardware products.

  • Knowledge of reliability testing and Design for Reliability tools.

  • Exposure to the medical device industry.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • MS with 4+ years of experience in the medical device field.

  • Familiarity with thermal and mechanical simulation.

  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt).

  • Exposure to Lean methodologies (5S, Kaizen).

  • Knowledge of medical device standards like IEC60601-1.

  • Exposure to usability engineering.
