Position Summary

Join Sonoco as a General Laborer in Holyoke, MA. This labor-intensive role offers a base pay of $23.39/hour plus shift differentials: $0.75/hour for 2nd shift and $1.00/hour for 3rd shift. Work a rotating shift schedule: 5 days on 1st (7am-3pm), 2 days off, 5 days on 2nd (3pm-11pm), 1 day off, 5 days on 3rd (11pm-7am), 2 days off — repeating. Eligible for weekly machine incentive bonus! Sonoco provides training for paper machine operations, forklift driving, assembly, and more in a diverse, union-represented workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow Safe Standard Procedures for all assigned tasks.
• Lift and move heavy items, handle slit rolls of paper.
• Assist in machine start-up, sheet break recovery, and roll splitting.
• Operate fork truck/Bobcat, complete daily inspections.
• Maintain housekeeping and assist with slitting equipment setup.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to perform intensive manual labor in hot, humid environment.
• Strict safety compliance: PPE including steel-toed shoes (employee-provided), safety glasses, hearing protection.
• Reliable attendance for 24/7 operations.
• No jewelry; diverse tasks like threading dryers and scrap pickup.
