Advanced Vehicle Development & Strategic Vehicle Integration Function Leader

part-timePosted: Jan 15, 2026

Job Description

Description

The Role –

Lead the Advanced Vehicle Development & Strategic Vehicle Integration (AVD & SVI) function at GMTCK, driving transformation in vehicle architecture and integration. Serve as a key member of the leadership team, championing innovation, safety, and operational excellence.

What You’ll Do –
We are looking for a visionary leader with the ability to drive cultural transformation, champion innovation, and lead diverse, multicultural teams in a dynamic global environment. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting GMTCK leadership to deliver on the company’s vision and strategic objectives, navigating the challenges of a rapidly evolving product development landscape.

Vision & Strategy

  • Shape and implement global and regional strategies for Advanced Vehicle Development (AVD) and Strategic Vehicle Integration (SVI) in alignment with GM’s vision.
  • Drive organizational change by challenging conventional practices and embedding a culture of innovation and agility.
  • Shorten early-stage architecture development timelines and position the organization for success in virtual engineering and advanced integration.

Innovation & Technology Leadership

  • Introduce and integrate cutting-edge technologies, including Software-Defined Vehicles (SDV) and Level 3 autonomous systems.
  • Promote the use of immersive tools, AI-driven solutions, and virtual development platforms to accelerate efficiency and quality.
  • Develop and execute benchmarking strategies to deliver actionable insights for competitive product development.

Safety & Compliance

  • Serve as the primary advocate for safety across GMTCK, ensuring strict adherence to standards and processes.
  • Lead Global Workplace Safety Standards (GWSS) initiatives, conduct safety audits (Safety Control Tour - SCTs/ Safety Observation Tour - SOTs), and validate compliance for all non-standard work.
  • Champion safety-related elements and act as Safety Review Board (SRB) leader to maintain operational excellence.

Program Leadership & Architecture Integration

  • Direct architecture framing, packaging, and integration for multi-brand platforms.
  • Manage program initiation and regional transitions, including resource planning and timing alignment.
  • Collaborate closely with Design Studio, AVD North America, Software & Services (S&S), Manufacturing Engineering (ME), and System Management Team (SMT) to deliver profitable programs with first-time quality.

Talent Development & Organizational Growth

  • Build technical depth within the team and mentor future leaders to strengthen organizational capability.
  • Lead initiatives to develop “All-in-One Engineers” by 2030 and foster continuous learning. The concept of All-in-One (AIO) Engineers in GMTCK refers to a strategic transformation in engineering roles aimed at increasing flexibility, efficiency, and innovation. This approach moves beyond traditional specialization, enabling engineers to handle tasks across design, analysis, integration, and validation rather than being confined to a single function.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and best practices across functions to support long-term growth.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) –

  • 10+ years of experience in vehicle architecture management or vehicle engineering.
  • 5–10 years of deep technical expertise in architectural development and studio engineering.
  • Proven leadership in multicultural environments and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and strategic agility.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive cultural change and innovation.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and change; self-motivated learner and influencer.
  • Proficiency in English.

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) –

  • Advanced technical education (Master’s, MBA, Ph.D.).
  • Experience with SMT development, manufacturing, global programs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Knowledge of emerging automotive engineering trends and technologies.
  • Strong global network and cross-functional experience.
  • Experience supporting program launches and managing ambiguity as an opportunity.
