Description

The Role –

As Head of Body, Exterior, Chassis & Aftersales Engineering, you will serve as a key member of the GMTCK Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the President. You will lead transformation in engineering processes, technology adoption, and organizational culture, ensuring world-class product delivery and uncompromising safety standards. This role requires strategic vision, technical expertise, and the ability to drive innovation and operational excellence across the function.
 

What You’ll Do –
The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting GMTCK leadership in executing the company’s vision and strategic objectives within a rapidly evolving product development environment. This position requires a forward-thinking leader who can drive cultural transformation, foster innovation, and effectively manage diverse teams across global markets.

Strategic Leadership & Transformation

  • Lead engineering process improvements, technology adoption, and cultural evolution.

  • Champion strategic initiatives that challenge the status quo and foster innovation.

  • Prepare the organization for virtual development and advanced integration.

Safety Leadership

  • Act as safety ambassador across the function and GMTCK.
  • Conduct Safety Control Tours (SCT) and Safety Observation Tours (SOT), review non-standard work and permits for compliance.

  • Lead Global Workplace Safety Standards (GWSS) activities and serve as element champion and Safety Review Board (SRB) leader.

Program Management

  • Oversee homeroom/program initiation and transition from other regions.

  • Develop transition plans, timing, and resource allocation across functions.

Change Leadership

  • Accelerate virtual development and eliminate physical prototypes.

  • Drive upskilling initiatives for “All-in-One Engineers” by 2030. The All-in-One (AIO) Engineer model at GMTCK represents a strategic shift in engineering roles designed to boost flexibility, efficiency, and innovation. By adopting digital innovation and fostering versatile skill sets, GMTCK aims to remain competitive in the fast-changing automotive industry while building a foundation for sustainable future operations.

  • Promote adoption of new technologies and AI to improve efficiency.

  • Ensure total vehicle integration and first-time quality across systems.

Collaboration & Culture

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, discipline, trust, and community engagement.

  • Actively participate in CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), SWE (Society of Women Engineers), KSAE (Korea Society of Automotive Engineers), Diversity, and other GMTCK initiatives.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) –

  • 15+ years in vehicle engineering development.
  • 10+ years of deep technical expertise in Body Exterior.
  • Proven leadership in safety (product and workplace).
  • Experience working with diverse cultures and nationalities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency in English.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cultural change and drive business results.
  • Strong business acumen and political savvy.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems and development processes.
  • Ability to build and maintain cross-functional working relationships.
