Required Qualifications

  • Experience building and maintaining backend services in production environments (experience)
  • Practical experience running workloads on Kubernetes (experience)
  • Proficiency with Ruby and Go programming languages (experience)
  • Strong scripting skills to automate workflows and tooling (experience)
  • Familiarity with Terraform and infrastructure as code practices (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL (experience)
  • Understanding of performance and reliability considerations for databases (experience)
  • Knowledge of secure, scalable, and supportable deployment practices (experience)
  • Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana (experience)
  • Experience collaborating in large codebases with distributed teams (experience)

  • Authoring and maintaining Helm charts (experience)
  • Experience with Omnibus packaging (experience)
  • Knowledge of GitLab Environment Toolkit (GET) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and evolve the Omnibus GitLab package for self-managed deployments
  • Design, develop, and maintain GitLab Helm Charts for Kubernetes
  • Enhance and support the GitLab Environment Toolkit and reference architectures
  • Support and improve the GitLab Operator for Kubernetes lifecycle management
  • Improve installation, upgrade, and operation experiences across platforms
  • Collaborate with Security to address vulnerabilities and ensure secure configurations
  • Build and maintain automation and CI/CD pipelines for deployment tooling
  • Partner with Distribution Engineers, SREs, and Development teams
  • Integrate new features into deployment methods
  • Validate and test deployment tooling across Omnibus, Charts, GET, and Operator
