- Managing infrastructure across major cloud providers (experience)
- Practical experience designing, operating, and troubleshooting databases, especially PostgreSQL (experience)
- Understanding of secure, scalable, and supportable deployment practices (experience)
- Familiarity with observability tools and patterns such as Prometheus and Grafana (experience)
- Experience collaborating within large codebases (experience)
- Working effectively with distributed, cross-functional teams (experience)

- Ability to work in Ruby (experience)
- Experience with service scaling and rollout strategies (experience)
- Background in addressing vulnerabilities in deployment stacks (experience)

Responsibilities
- Maintain and evolve the Omnibus GitLab package
- Contribute to design, development, and maintenance of GitLab Helm Charts
- Enhance and extend the GitLab Environment Toolkit (GET) and GitLab Operator
- Improve installation, upgrade, and day-to-day operations workflows
- Partner with Security to address vulnerabilities and deliver secure configurations
- Build and maintain automation and CI/CD pipelines for deployment tools
- Collaborate with Distribution Engineers, SREs, Release Managers, and Development teams
- Provide technical leadership and guide architectural decisions
- Mentor backend engineers
- Contribute to the strategic roadmap for self-managed delivery
