Job Description

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience. 10 years of experience in technical sourcing and supply chain management. Experience in people management. Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line. Our team is responsible for all aspects of supplier development and ongoing performance management to Google's technology and business needs. You will manage projects, driving collaboration to develop and execute Google's sourcing strategy for our CPU and OEM Server and OEM Storage hardware across multiple internal organizations, in support of our infrastructure deployment that powers Google's services. In this role, you will be a key part of an end-to-end Supply Chain team that drives continuous improvements and ensures operational excellence in support of Google's growth. You are ambitious and ready to exert influence at the executive levels of the organization. You will be a Commodity Manager and leader with an executive presence and a communicator who collaborates effectively across multiple functions. Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible.

  • Negotiate all types of agreements with all types of vendors or suppliers within one or multiple domains, with minimum supervision
