Key Responsibilities

As Privacy Counsel, your responsibilities will span the full spectrum of privacy operations in a high-growth SaaS environment:

  • Advise cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, and Business on data privacy, security, and compliance from ideation to launch.
  • Deliver actionable legal guidance on global regulations like GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, HIPAA, and U.S. state privacy laws, including biometrics and children's privacy.
  • Lead privacy impact assessments (PIAs) to identify and mitigate risks proactively.
  • Craft and maintain robust privacy policies, internal guidelines, and compliance frameworks.
  • Stay ahead of regulatory changes, interpreting and implementing requirements swiftly.
  • Handle data subject requests and customer privacy inquiries alongside Security and Support.
  • Negotiate privacy terms in DPAs, vendor contracts, and customer agreements.

  • 5+ years of relevant privacy counseling experience at a major technology company, B2B SaaS provider, or top law firm (experience)
  • Familiarity with B2C and B2B SaaS, AI, and cloud platforms with experience in international privacy compliance (experience)
  • Deep knowledge of global privacy, security, and data protection laws including GDPR, CCPA, and others (experience)
  • Proven experience working with business stakeholders such as Product, Engineering, and Security teams in fast-paced environments (experience)
  • Excellent drafting, communication, and negotiation skills (experience)
  • CIPP or other relevant privacy certification (highly preferred) (experience)
  • Experience with industry-specific regulations like COPPA, FERPA, BIPA, CUBI, HIPAA, and AADC (experience)
  • Passion for the intersection of technology, law, and business (experience)
  • Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills (experience)
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidance (experience)
