Key Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer Intern, you'll dive into complex technical challenges scaling interfaces, algorithms, and infrastructure for massive user bases. Here's what you'll do:

• Scope, design, and execute end-to-end engineering projects with mentor guidance, directly impacting team OKRs.
• Ship high-quality code to production within your first few weeks, experiencing the full software development lifecycle.
• Collaborate daily with professional engineers, learning best practices in code reviews, testing, and deployment.
• Work across front-end (React/TypeScript), back-end (Node.js/Python), full-stack, or mobile technologies based on project needs.
• Iterate rapidly in agile sprints, providing unique feedback to influence product roadmaps and features.
• Leverage diverse APIs, frameworks, and languages while tackling scalability issues for 40M+ daily active users.
• Debug performance bottlenecks and optimize systems handling massive data volumes.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings with product managers, designers, and researchers.
• Document your work and present project outcomes to the broader engineering organization.
• Explore Superhuman's AI stack, including context-aware agents and integrations with 1M+ apps.
• Contribute to open-source initiatives or internal tools that streamline team workflows.
• Grow through weekly 1:1s, technical workshops, and peer learning sessions.
• Experience real-world challenges like A/B testing, monitoring, and on-call rotations (shadowing).

Qualifications

We're looking for driven students who thrive in fast-paced environments. You should:

• Be currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
• Commit to the full 12-week Summer 2026 program without scheduling conflicts.
• Reside in or relocate to Berlin, Germany, with ability to work in-office 2+ days weekly (hybrid model).
• Demonstrate strong CS fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, OOP (from coursework, self-study, or projects).
• Have coding experience in JavaScript, Python, Java, or equivalent; personal GitHub projects encouraged.
• Excel at problem-solving and learning new tech stacks quickly.
• Communicate effectively in English for team collaboration.
• Show passion for AI, productivity tools, or scalable systems.
• Previous internship or hackathon experience is a plus, but not required.
• Be eligible to work in Germany (EU citizens or valid visa).
