Role Description

The Core Disability Product Analyst is a pivotal role within Guardian Life's Core Disability Income (DI) product line. This position drives the successful execution of product initiatives, operational excellence, and client-focused innovations. You'll blend technical expertise in disability insurance mechanics with outstanding customer service to ensure compliant, efficient systems that delight clients, distribution partners, and internal stakeholders.

As a systems thinker and collaborative partner, you'll support product ideation, manage documentation, handle inquiries, and leverage KPIs for continuous improvement. This hybrid role (3 days/week onsite in Pittsfield, MA) offers the perfect blend of independence and teamwork across actuarial, underwriting, legal/compliance, operations, and technology teams. Detailed Responsibilities

  • Support product ideation, innovation, development, and seamless implementation into policy administration systems.
  • Gather and organize distribution insights, competitive intelligence, and market research to inform strategic decisions.
  • Maintain and update comprehensive product documentation, competitive materials, training resources, and sales enablement tools.
  • Coordinate cross-functional meetings, track action items, and ensure timely follow-up for project success.
  • Respond to Core DI product inquiries via phone (call center queue) and email, providing exceptional customer service and resolutions.
  • Author precise business requirements, UAT plans with acceptance criteria, test data, defect triage, and post-deployment validation; maintain audit-ready documentation.
  • Develop reference guides and deliver virtual training sessions (via Zoom) to empower distribution partners on illustrations and product features.
  • Generate product illustrations and competitive analyses for distribution partners within strict time standards.
  • Support product management for our inforce block, including billing, lapses, reinstatements, and benefit calculations.
  • Assist in product filings, forms management, and special projects to advance business objectives.
  • Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor, evaluate, and drive project success and organizational alignment.

Required Skills

Guardian Life seeks a proactive, detail-oriented professional with deep IDI expertise. Key skills include:

  • Strong knowledge of IDI mechanics (own-occupation definitions, residual benefits, COLA, exclusions, etc.).
  • Expertise in inforce policy administration (billing, offsets with SSDI/workers’ comp, waivers).
  • Proficiency in policy admin/underwriting systems, product configuration, and claims dependencies.
  • Experience authoring business requirements, UAT, and production validation.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influence skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Organizational and time-management prowess for independent execution.
  • Data-driven mindset to transform insights into actionable product strategies.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • 2+ years in disability insurance, product management, or related field preferred.

Compensation Overview

Role Description
