Role Description

The Group Underwriting Senior Technical Writer collaborates with underwriting, operations, product managers, legal, IT, and compliance teams to analyze, develop, validate, and publish essential information. You'll systematically create logically organized content for our Information Management System (IMS), evaluate communication strategies, and implement improvements based on colleague feedback and industry standards. This role demands managing multiple priorities, interpreting complex underwriting processes, risk assessment criteria, and decision-making frameworks in the fast-paced world of group insurance products.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Independently lead development of reference materials for complex projects involving new products, policies, systems, tools, and processes to enhance group underwriting efficiency.
• Create specialized underwriting content for the Information Management System (IMS), ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
• Occasionally lead weekly publication of the Group Underwriting newsletter, delivering timely updates to the team.
• Lead reviews of existing group underwriting policies in collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
• Partner with Information Management and Learning teams to coordinate projects, manage communications, and align on goals.
• Collaborate across departments including compliance, legal, IT, and product management to gather source materials, validate content, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Continuously evaluate and improve information management approaches using industry best practices and process optimization techniques like Lean Six Sigma.
• Develop training materials using instructional design principles (optional but valued).

Required Skills

Education & Experience

• 4-year college degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience writing/editing technical content in insurance, healthcare, or regulated sectors.
• Knowledge of group insurance products and services (preferred).
• Project management experience (preferred).
• Track record of disciplined task completion and meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments.

Compensation Overview

The base salary range for this Group Underwriting Senior Technical Writer position in Bethlehem, PA, is $67,450 - $110,815 annually. Final pay is determined by education, experience, knowledge, and abilities. Eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
