Role Description

We’re seeking a visionary self-starter to lead AI initiatives in a matrixed, dispersed team environment (onshore and offshore). You’ll deliver rock-solid automation platforms, exceptional customer service, and scalable AI systems using AWS, Python, and advanced frameworks. This hybrid role requires 3 days onsite in New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania, with up to 10% US travel. Work independently and collaboratively to advance Guardian’s Automation & Artificial Intelligence objectives.

Detailed Responsibilities

• Lead all stages of the AI model development lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization.
• Design and implement scalable, reliable systems for AI applications, ensuring high uptime and performance.
• Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, DevOps teams, and remote stakeholders to architect technical designs and solutions.
• Implement engineering best practices, including agile methodologies, containerization, orchestration, and industry-standard security protocols.
• Track, report, and optimize platform performance and availability metrics using AIOps tools.
• Mentor junior team members, foster technical excellence, and conduct code reviews, source management, and build processes.
• Operate process automation products & solutions in a global team setting.
• Stay ahead of AI trends, Generative AI advancements, and emerging technologies to continuously evolve our platforms.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, perform system analysis, and ensure seamless integration with AWS services like SageMaker.

Required Skills

Excel as a Lead AI Engineer with these core competencies:

• Expertise in Python programming and AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Advanced hands-on experience with AWS services, SageMaker, and cloud-native architectures.
• Proficiency in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Strong knowledge of AIOps, software engineering best practices, and agile methodologies.
• Enterprise architecture, system engineering, security best practices, and DevOps pipelines.
• Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and system analysis skills.
• Experience mentoring teams and working in matrixed, remote environments.
• Quick learner adaptable to new technologies like Generative AI.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Applications, Information Systems, or Information Technology.
• 7+ years in AWS Services, Enterprise Architecture, system engineering, and security.
• 7+ years of software development experience across the full lifecycle.
• 5+ years hands-on with Python, AI Frameworks, and AIOps.
• Familiarity with containerization, orchestration, and SageMaker.

Compensation Overview

Salary Range: $118,980 - $195,465 annually. This good faith estimate reflects base pay for the New York primary location. Final salary depends on education, experience, knowledge, and abilities. Eligible for annual, sales, or other incentives.
