Role Description

The Manager - Finance Shared Services resides within the Corporate FP&A area at Guardian Life, overseeing the development and maintenance of automated allocation systems for direct and indirect costs in planning and actuals. This pivotal role involves gathering, analyzing, and determining data inputs and processes for Oracle PCMCS modules, driver-based allocations, data load rules, and mappings. You will lead the strategic 'Future State of Allocations' initiative for 2025, ensuring seamless corporate finance reporting compliant with Statutory Insurance regulations. Acting as a key liaison with business and functional areas, you'll drive expense management excellence in our Chennai center.

Detailed Responsibilities

Core FP&A and Allocation Duties

  • Collaborate with COE, General Ledger, and IT teams to maintain system expense allocation design for Legal Entity, Business Area, product line, and department-level reporting of pre- and post-allocated expenses for plan and actuals.
  • Execute and manage monthly expense allocations, reconciling pre- and post-allocated expenses with precision.
  • Create and load expense allocation rates and drivers based on financial data from within and outside the accounting ledger.
  • Partner with key expense reporting personnel across Business and Functional Areas to create, review, and support direct and indirect allocated expenses.

Reporting and Compliance

  • Support Business Areas with fully allocated/absorbed allocation rate reports to Legal Entities, product lines, and inter-business charges.
  • Develop standardized reporting for pre- and post-allocated expenses to enhance visibility and decision-making.
  • Review and approve EDMCS master data maintenance requests, particularly for cost codes.
  • Conduct system allocation testing, GL system testing, and support upgrades as required.
  • Address requests from PwC and MAR internal controls, ensuring audit readiness.

Strategic and Support Functions

  • Participate in annual benchmark studies with AON to drive industry-leading practices.
  • Support reconciliation of intercompany balances for Schedule Y and allocation of high-salaried staff to Legal Entities for Schedule G.
  • Contribute to Annual Statement Insurance Exhibit reporting for general expenses and taxes (excluding FIT).

This role demands technical prowess in Oracle PCMCS and a proactive approach to financial shared services in Chennai.

Role Description
