Role Description

As a Senior QA Engineer at Guardian Life, you'll promote product ownership and quality through measurable processes, comprehensive assessments, and risk identification. Embedded within Application and Platform Engineering teams, you'll collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Development to understand features, bugs, customer usage, and technical implementations. Your expertise will shift testing left in the SDLC, leveraging the right tools to deliver exceptional products. Detailed Responsibilities

  • Drive the creation and execution of test strategies, test plans, and test cases while utilizing automated tools to optimize SDLC/STLC processes.
  • Perform exploratory testing, automate repetitive tasks, and partner side-by-side with software development engineers.
  • Review user interfaces for conformity, functionality, and accessibility across web and mobile platforms.
  • Efficiently execute test cases across all functional, UI, and API areas of our insurance products.
  • Find, isolate, document, regress, and track bugs through to resolution using industry-leading tools.
  • Measure, interpret, and report testing results; advocate vocally for quality in every development phase.
  • Implement continuous integration practices and mentor junior QA engineers on best practices.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to enhance testing frameworks and reduce time-to-market.

Required Skills

To succeed as our Senior QA Engineer, bring these essential skills:

  • Hands-on test automation with JavaScript (preferred), Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Expertise in front-end UI testing, API testing with tools like Postman or REST Assured.
  • Proficiency in continuous integration tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
  • Strong exploratory testing and bug tracking using Jira, Bugzilla, or similar.
  • Agile/Scrum methodologies and shift-left testing in SDLC.

Education & Experience

  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.

Compensation Overview

The base salary range for this Senior QA Engineer position in New York is $118,980.00 - $195,465.00 annually. Final pay is determined by education, experience, knowledge, and abilities.
