Role Description

We're seeking a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer with extensive hands-on experience building resilient, performant web applications in modern cloud environments. In this role, you'll collaborate with engineers, product managers, UI/UX designers, business leaders, and data teams to deliver best-in-class digital experiences for millions of Guardian customers. Detailed Responsibilities

Core Engineering Duties

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript stacks (Node.js, React, Next.js, NestJS) to solve complex business challenges in insurance and financial services.
• Build and optimize APIs (REST/GraphQL) with best practices, integrating seamlessly with third-party systems for enhanced customer experiences.
• Implement micro-frontends, microservices, and caching solutions like Redis to ensure high availability and performance.
• Master web fundamentals—vanilla JavaScript, HTML, CSS—and tune for Core Web Vitals to deliver lightning-fast, public-facing experiences.
• Drive Agile development processes, participating in sprints with cross-functional teams including designers, product experts, marketers, and strategists.

Collaboration & Innovation

• Partner with non-technical stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals and strategies.
• Champion CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (Jest), and AWS cloud infrastructure for reliable deployments.
• Apply security best practices (OWASP) and handle PII data responsibly in compliance with industry regulations.
• Innovate and modernize legacy systems, launching customer products that drive measurable business impact.

Education & Experience

Compensation Overview

Salary Range: $118,980 - $195,465 (base pay for primary New York location). Final offer based on education, experience, knowledge, and abilities. Eligible for annual incentives, sales bonuses, or other compensation.
