Role Description

As a Technical Lead/Lead Software Engineer at Guardian Life, you'll lead the development of resilient, high-performance public-facing web applications. Leverage your expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Next.js, Node.js, and AWS to architect scalable solutions that drive customer engagement and business results.

Detailed Responsibilities

Core Duties

• Architect and lead development of scalable, performant web applications using React, Next.js, Node.js, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices, code standards, and advanced JavaScript/TypeScript patterns.
• Design and implement APIs (REST/GraphQL) with seamless third-party integrations, ensuring security and efficiency.
• Drive innovation by modernizing legacy systems and creating creative technical solutions for business challenges.
• Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, data teams, and leadership to deliver exceptional user experiences.
• Optimize for web core vitals, performance management, and scalability using tools like Redis for caching.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing (Jest), and agile methodologies in a team environment.
• Champion security best practices, including OWASP compliance and handling PII data responsibly.
• Launch customer-facing products with demonstrable business impact, from ideation to production.

Required Skills

Guardian seeks proven leaders with hands-on expertise. Key skills include:

• Mastery of JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React, Next.js, NestJS, and Jest for large-scale applications.
• Deep knowledge of API development (REST/GraphQL) and microservices/micro-frontends architecture.
• Expertise in AWS, Redis, CI/CD, and modern web tools for building performant apps.
• Strong command of web fundamentals: vanilla JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and performance optimization.
• Agile experience with cross-functional teams (engineers, designers, product, marketers).
• Security acumen: OWASP, PII handling, and secure coding practices.

Education & Experience

• 10+ years delivering high-impact, public-facing web applications with business results.
• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent relevant experience.
• Proven leadership in agile environments, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Excitement for innovation, collaboration, and precision in fast-paced settings.

Compensation Overview

Salary Range: $118,980 - $195,465 annually (base pay for primary New York location). Actual offer based on experience, education, skills, and abilities. Eligible for annual incentives, sales bonuses, or other compensation.
