Handshake
Handshake is seeking experienced Earth, Marine & Space Science Professors to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional full-time faculty role. You’ll use your real-world experience teaching geology to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand geological concepts, field practices, and academic language. This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity that can be done alongside your primary employment.

We’re looking for established professionals with 4+ years of professional experience teaching geology or closely related Earth science subjects at the post-secondary level, hands-on experience designing and delivering geology courses, labs, or field-based instruction, strong written communication skills and attention to detail, comfortable working independently and following written guidelines, and professional judgment, reliability, and a high standard of discretion and confidentiality, especially with sensitive or proprietary information.
Independent contractor (not a full-time employee role)
This project involves using your professional experience as a Geology Professor to design job-related questions and review AI-generated responses for accuracy, clarity, and relevance to real-world geology instruction.
The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with projects opening periodically across different areas of expertise.
