RESUME AND JOB
Handshake
Handshake is seeking experienced Calibration Technicians to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional full-time technician role. You’ll use your real-world experience calibrating, testing, and maintaining equipment to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand calibration tasks, quality requirements, and technical terminology.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity that can be done alongside your primary employment.
As a Calibration Technician, your day will involve a mix of evaluating AI-generated content and providing constructive feedback. You might start by reviewing a set of questions generated by AI related to specific calibration tasks. Then, you'll analyze the AI's responses, ensuring they are accurate, relevant, and align with industry best practices. Your insights will directly contribute to improving the AI's understanding of complex calibration procedures.
You'll also be responsible for designing your own calibration-related questions to challenge the AI's knowledge. This involves thinking critically about the nuances of calibration and metrology, and crafting questions that test the AI's ability to apply its knowledge to real-world scenarios. Throughout the day, you'll document your findings and communicate with the Handshake AI team to share your observations and suggestions.
The remote nature of this role offers significant advantages for Calibration Technicians. It allows you to leverage your expertise from anywhere with a reliable internet connection, eliminating the need to commute to a physical lab or office. This flexibility enables you to balance your work with other commitments, such as your primary employment or personal responsibilities.
Moreover, remote work expands the pool of available talent, allowing Handshake to tap into the expertise of Calibration Technicians from across the USA. This diversity of experience ensures that the AI receives feedback from a wide range of perspectives, leading to more robust and accurate results.
While this is a contract role, it offers valuable opportunities for professional growth and development. By working with Handshake AI, you'll gain experience in evaluating cutting-edge AI technology and contributing to its advancement in the calibration field. You'll also have the chance to expand your network by collaborating with other professionals in the industry.
Depending on your performance and the availability of future projects, you may have the opportunity to take on more complex tasks, such as developing training materials for the AI or leading calibration projects. Your contributions will be recognized and valued, and you'll play a key role in shaping the future of AI in calibration.
As an independent contractor, you'll be paid an hourly rate for your work. The specific rate will depend on your experience and the complexity of the project. Handshake is committed to offering competitive rates that reflect the value of your expertise.
While this role does not include traditional employee benefits, the flexibility and autonomy it offers can be a significant advantage. You'll have the freedom to set your own hours and work from anywhere, allowing you to tailor your work to your lifestyle.
At Handshake, our mission is to bridge the gap between education and employment. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to pursue a fulfilling career, regardless of their background or location. By leveraging AI technology, we're creating new and innovative ways to connect students and professionals with employers.
