Handshake is seeking experienced Claims Specialists to support AI research through flexible, hourly contract work. This is not a traditional full-time claims role. You’ll use your real-world experience investigating, evaluating, and resolving claims to evaluate AI-generated content and provide feedback that helps AI better understand claims processes, policy language, and customer communication.

This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity that can be done alongside your primary employment.

A Day in the Life

As a Claims Specialist supporting Handshake's AI initiatives, your day will involve a blend of critical thinking, analytical skills, and claims expertise. You might start by reviewing a set of AI-generated responses to various claims scenarios. These scenarios could range from property damage claims to auto accidents or even health insurance inquiries. Your task would be to assess the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of the AI's responses.

You'll evaluate how well the AI understands policy language, how effectively it communicates with claimants, and whether its proposed resolutions align with industry best practices. You’ll provide detailed feedback on the AI's performance, highlighting areas for improvement and suggesting alternative approaches. You'll also design job-related questions to challenge the AI's understanding of complex claims issues.
