Job Description

As the Development Chef, you'll be the culinary engine driving innovation and quality for the Youfoodz brand. Your expertise will be pivotal in translating the latest food trends into commercially successful, ready-to-heat meals. You'll work cross functionally with key stakeholders in Procurement, on selection of raw materials, applying your culinary expertise to create delicious recipes and scale those recipes with Food Technologists through production to ensure every new and improved product is perfectly formulated to deliver on our promise to customers across Australia. 

This permanent, full time role is based in Karawatha, Brisbane and reports directly to the Culinary Manager

You will...

  • Lead the New Product Development (NPD) process and Menu Planning, ensuring products are commercially viable and can be made at scale.
  • Utilise your culinary expertise to interpret the latest food and ingredient trends to create innovative product concepts and action product briefs.
  • Cook and create product samples for key customers and engage stakeholders on new product ranges, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Liaise with stakeholders in procurement, food tech, production, and quality to guide the recipe scale-up process to product formulation within the processing environment.
  • Capture all product and recipe attributes, cooking methods, raw material specifications, and cost of raw materials within our internal development systems, ensuring product data accuracy.
  • Apply your knowledge of global cuisines to identify and anticipate food trends, adjusting authentic recipes for Australian palettes.
  • Cost meals within strict budgets without compromising quality or flavour, creatively selecting ingredients that match the customer value proposition

You have...

  • A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
  • 4+ years of experience in a commercial setting or a processing environment for large-scale food manufacture.
  • Strong technical proficiency with Google Docs, general computer skills, and experience with budgeting calculations and recipe building.
  • An exceptional eye for detail, demonstrating a critical understanding of the importance of accuracy and precision.
  • Clear and concise communication skills across all levels.
