Position Summary:

Operate and examine production and service machines, equipment and systems including hydraulic and pneumatics' to determine and locate malfunctions. Perform repair, parts and replacement and / or rebuild as required.

Tools, Materials & Equipment:

Drill presses, lathe, power saw, sanders, grinders, Forklift, jib crane, welding equipment, miscellaneous hand tools such as: wrenches, hammers, pliers, sockets. Oxygen-acetylene cutting equipment, chains, and equipment dollies for relocating or installing.

Responsible for proper use and maintenance of required personal safety protection equipment and understanding proper hazardous waste material handling Receive or determine work assignments, view logbooks, and overdue reports, equipment availability, work orders as to help in completion of assignment Identify and report material irregularities and equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel and or department.  As needed, operate and examine machines, equipment, hydraulic systems and pneumatic systems to determine the cause of malfunction. Perform diagnostic checks on hydraulic and pneumatic systems such as of synchronization of pressure valves, regulation of valve and orifice, calibration and synchronization of motor speeds and shafts Demonstrate basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic skills / read schematics Perform troubleshooting complex facilities, equipment and systems. Install, repair and / or replace components on equipment such as hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, machine tools, automatic production machines, gas fired systems, refrigeration systems, process ovens and systems etc. Initiate appropriate repairs and adjustments to maintain optimal performance of equipment Maintain predictive and preventative maintenance records Complete required maintenance work orders and all necessary documentation as required or directed Repair and replace hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, valves, pressure fittings as required Assist in maintaining and recommending spare parts inventory Diagnose malfunctions and install, repair and replace mechanisms where close fits and tolerances’ are an integral part of the operation. Repair or replace mechanisms such as chains, sprockets, belts, gearboxes, couplings, bearings, etc. Layout and weld or cut and braze carbon and or stainless steel or aluminum in difficult configurations or positions on all dimensional materials. When necessary perform duties normally assigned to entry level mechanics,, Assist electrical and other personnel with repairs as arises or as requested Reference drawings, sketches or diagrams. Layout for fabrication and or fabricate, assemble, install or replace equipment. Improvise and calculate dimensions when necessary, assuring project meet operational and safety requirements. Operate a variety of machine tools when tolerances are precise.

Education, Experience & Skills Required:

1. High School Graduation or equivalent by General Equivalency Diploma or certification of  graduation requirements. 

2. A two year technical trade training program in the area of industrial maintenance or machine tool or four years experience in mechanical maintenance work, plus a formal training course in hydraulic and pneumatic systems along with formal training in mig, tig, and stick welding, or have ten years experience in mechanical maintenance work, demonstrate the ability to mig, and tig and stick weld and have the ability to use air arc equipment
