The opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Energy System Project Management Senior Professional to lead and deliver complex energy infrastructure projects across Australia. This role involves comprehensive project lifecycle management, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • You will lead and manage multiple, large-scale energy system projects from initiation to closure, including planning, execution, monitoring, control, and close-out activities.

  • You will act as the primary point of contact for key internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, regulatory bodies, and internal departments, ensuring effective communication and alignment.

  • You will develop, monitor, and control project budgets, resource allocation, and schedules, proactively identifying and mitigating potential deviations, identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies and contingency plans.

  • You will oversee and manage project contracts, including negotiations, supplier performance, and compliance with contractual terms and conditions, ensure all project activities adhere to Hitachi Energy's stringent quality, health, safety, and environmental standards, as well as relevant industry regulations and codes.

  • You will provide technical guidance and oversight to project teams, collaborating with engineering and technical specialists to resolve complex issues, prepare and present comprehensive project status reports, forecasts, and documentation to senior management and stakeholders, mentor and guide project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.

  • You will identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within project delivery.

  • You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field) or a relevant technical discipline. A master’s degree or MBA is highly desirable.

  • Minimum of 8 to10 years of progressive experience in project management within the energy sector, with a strong focus on power generation, transmission, distribution, or renewable energy projects.

  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification is mandatory. In-depth understanding of energy systems, including grid infrastructure, power electronics, automation, and digital solutions.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) or similar contracts. Familiarity with Australian energy market regulations, standards, and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and standard office applications. Willingness to travel domestically as required for project sites and client meetings.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication (written and verbal), negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and motivate diverse teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
