The opportunity
Over 60 years ago, Hitachi Energy revolutionized long-distance electricity transmission with HVDC technology. Today, we deliver up to 12 GW at 1100 kV across 3,000 km, enabling renewable integration on a global scale.
We’re looking for passionate innovators to join our Hitachi Energy Technology Center in Krakow and work on the brain of HVDC stations: Modular Advanced Control for HVDC (MACH™).
What’s in it for you?
• Contribute to product that operates 24/7 for over 30 years, ensuring reliable power worldwide.
• Work on cutting-edge tech: power electronics control, high-speed digital boards, and I/O systems.
• Collaborate with an international team to design end-to-end hardware solutions integrating FPGA and embedded software.
You will join the Valve Electronics team led by Yuriy Puchkov, applying your knowledge and skills in technology and product development.
Why you’ll love working with us
• We support competence development, knowledge sharing, work-life balance, and diversity.
• Enjoy a modern office near the central station, equipped with state-of-the-art tools and a brand-new on-site laboratory.
• Work with open-minded, friendly teammates in a collaborative and positive environment.
How you'll make an impact
As a member of our MACH™ product development team, you will:
• Drive Real Change: See your contributions translate into tangible product improvements that shape the evolution of electrical grids—making them greener, more reliable, and more resilient.
• Advance HVDC Technology: Participate in the development and maintenance of MACH products within the Valve Electronics domain, enhancing reliability and robustness while influencing HVDC and GPQSS technologies at Hitachi.
• Share Expertise: Bring your knowledge to the organization, helping streamline product development processes and improving documentation, design, and testing infrastructure to meet current and future needs.
• Own the Full Lifecycle: Contribute to every stage of the Control & Protection system hardware platform—from concept, requirements, and simulations to prototyping, testing, release, and sustaining production.
• Collaborate and Plan: Engage in technical reviews and project planning, ensuring quality and alignment across teams.
Your background
Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronics Engineering or related field.
Experience: 2+ years in analog circuit board design, including quality/reliability (DFMEA, MTBF), CAD tools (Altium, Cadstar, PADS), and simulations (SPICE, Ansys, SIMetrix).
Skills:
• Practical analog & power electronics (industry topologies, modern semiconductors, magnetics; high & low power, 1kV+).
• EMC principles, power integrity, thermal management.
• Hands-on lab testing, measurement equipment, board rework, metrology basics.
• Knowledge of PCB/PCBA manufacturing and DFM.
Soft Skills: Self-motivated, curious, collaborative, strong communication.
Language: English B2 or higher.
Safety: Commitment to safe work practices.
Preferred complementary skills:
• Opto-electronics, optics, fibers.
• High-voltage isolation (up to 10kV), insulation coordination.
• Control loops and systems.
• Digital design, DSP, FPGA, MCU fundamentals.
