The Opportunity:

Hitachi Energy India Development Centre (IDC) is a research and development facility with around 500 R&D engineers, specialists, and experts, who focus on creating and sustaining digital solutions, new products and technology. This includes product integration, testing, cybersecurity, and certification.  The India Development Centre is situated in Chennai and Bangalore. IDC collaborates with the R&D and Research centers of Hitachi Energy, which are spread across more than 15 locations throughout 12 countries. In the past 20 years, IDC has secured more than 200 international papers and 150+ patents.

Ability to lead a team with strong management skills, to deliver the value expected from the team.  The team manager is expected to define and implement both long-term and short-term strategies, for the team, as per the overall organization strategy.

How you will make an impact:

  • Lead cross-functional project teams (Power Electronics, Mechanics, Control and Automation, Engineering) in close collaboration with the line/program management responsible.

  • You will drive the development of multiple product roadmap items with the R&D technical team and all cross-functional stakeholders.

  • You develop accurate, comprehensive, and regular reporting about R&D projects and stakeholder management.

  • Drive the implementation of the backlog in a transparent and efficient way and ensure quality and timeliness of releases.

  • You will be responsible for scope definition, budget estimation and planning of the different R&D projects.

  • You will set up and manage partnerships with external development partners and production suppliers.

  • Collect and clarify requirements and drive prioritization with multiple stakeholders.

  • Responsible for risk and opportunity management and change control within the projects.

  • You will support the roll-out of releases to supply chain, engineering, and manufacturing, and ensure smooth handover to the operational organization.

  • You will support the R&D organization in continuously improving the processes and ways of working towards increasingly lean and agile methods.

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

  • University degree in technical fields (Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or similar) with 10-15 years of experience of technical project management experience including full lifecycle developments, all aspects from initial research & development, specifications development, concept development, design, testing & validation, qualification, and industrialization.

  • Experience in product development project management in a multisite and global team environment.

  • Good knowledge of Scrum framework or similar Agile-Lean stage gate frameworks.

  • Experience in EV charging is a plus.

  • Experience of product development projects in the Automotive industry using or knowledge of APQP (incl. D/PFMEA) is a plus.

  • Strong team and leadership skills.

  • Pro-active, creative & problem-solving person with resistance to stressful situations.

  • Work very well independently and have a strong self-motivation.

  • Willingness to travel.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
