The opportunity
 

As R&D Project Manager, you will join the Hitachi Energy Technology community, specifically on our Molinazzo Di Monteggio (Switzerland) location. As part of our R&D community, you will contribute to the development of projects related to the performance of dry transformers.

While prior knowledge of transformers is appreciated, it is not a strict requirement. We welcome candidates who are motivated to learn and grow in this field. You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship to build your expertise in transformer design and development. This is a great opportunity for individuals who are curious, hands-on, and eager to deepen their technical knowledge in a high-impact area of energy technology.

As a member of a highly skilled Hitachi Energy R&D community, you will run projects and contribute to the successful roadmap execution.

How you’ll make an impact

  • Plan, implement, and deliver new technologies and product developments for dry-type transformers, while continuously improving existing solutions

  • Lead product development initiatives using appropriate tools and methodologies, ensuring timely delivery, technical excellence, and process efficiency

  • Coordinate proactively with cross-functional teams to align on project requirements, timelines, and deliverables

  • Establish and maintain effective communication plans, managing change requests and ensuring all stakeholders are informed of impacts on scope, schedule, and budget

  • Support the implementation of developed solutions in our factories and customer delivery projects

  • Promote our dry-type transformer portfolio both internally and externally

  • Provide insights into market needs and contribute proposals for future developments in the dry-type transformer portfolio

  • Build and expand relationships with internal teams, customers, universities, and other relevant external partners, including identifying potential collaboration opportunities
     

Your background 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in an electrical or mechanical engineering

  • Proven experience with project management tools and methodologies

  • Experience in transformer design is an advantage

  • Strong communication skills and a structured, proactive approach to driving improvements and managing change

  • A collaborative mindset and a strong willingness to learn and explore new areas

  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role

  • Fluency in English and Italian, both written and spoken

  • Initiative, creativity, and great attention to detail
