Hitachi Energy is currently looking for a R&D Thermal Simulation Engineer - Bushings for the Transformers Business to join their team in Bushing R&D, Vadodara, India. This team seeks a skilled and motivated individual. Transformers BU team leverages innovative and diverse technology to transform energy, delivering social, environmental, and economic value and enabling a sustainable energy future for current and future generations. The business’s comprehensive portfolio includes power transformers, traction transformers, insulation and components, digital sensors, and transformer services. The candidate will have excellent communications skills.Thermal simulation engineer focuses on bushing design validation by performing thermal analysis using FEM. Thermal simulation engineer jointly works on thermal calculations, thermal networking, as well as complex challenges in thermal design and performance of OIP and RIP bushing technologies to produce highly competitive bushing design.
How you’ll make an impact:
Analyze conductor design and technical specifications of bushings to predict maximum operating current
Refer global standards like IEC and IEEE while working on market or customer requirement specifications
Perform thermal design calculations and validations using analytical tools and numerical simulations
Prepare thermal design rules or guidelines, technical documents, test specifications, etc.
Provide technical support in design validation, automation, and platform developments
Provide sustainable tools and applications to improve bushing design validation process
Collaborate with virtual simulation team to enhance simulation techniques and process
Collaborate with global product care team to offer simulation support in product maintenance
Collaborate with bushing engineering teams to offer simulation support in failure or root cause analyses
Possess strong knowledge and experience of temperature rise and thermal stability testing of bushings
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background :
Master’s degree in thermal or mechanical engineering with a background of thermodynamics or CFD
5+ years of industrial experience in thermal design, heat mass transfer calculations, and CFD simulations
Strong knowledge and working experience of thermal and CFD simulations using COMSOL Multiphysics
Knowledge of COMSOL Multiphysics, platform products, add-on interfaces, and software programming
Knowledge of multiphysics simulations involving thermal analysis, CFD, and Fluid-Structure Interaction
Knowledge of software programming tools and languages such as MATLAB, Mathcad, Python, Java, etc.
Knowledge of thermal properties, heat transfer coefficient, volumetric loss, and insulation materials
Knowledge of transformer bushings and testing of temperature rise, thermal stability is highly desired
Knowledge of high voltage products, global standards, OEM regulations, and industrial practices
Proficiency in both spoken and written English language is required
