You will assess and evaluate the security posture of diverse aerospace technologies, playing a pivotal role in identifying security requirements, threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and penetration testing. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive threat modeling and risk assessments for aerospace hardware, software, and embedded systems.
  • Perform vulnerability analysis and penetration testing on avionics, flight control systems, and connected aerospace platforms.
  • Develop and implement security architectures that comply with DO-178C, NIST 800-53, and aerospace-specific standards like RTCA DO-326A.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security controls into product development lifecycles.
  • Lead security evaluations and provide actionable recommendations to enhance product resilience against cyber threats.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to security policy development for the Aero division.

Summary

The Advanced Cyber Security Engineer/Architect will be a key part Aero product security team and will be responsible for assessing and evaluating the security posture of a variety of Aerospace products and technologies. Some of the key responsibilities of the larger team include identifying security requirements, threat modelling, vulnerability analysis and penetration testing of aerospace products. Our Advanced Cyber Security Engineer will work directly alongside our Sr. Cyber Security Manager on a hybrid schedule out of our Phoenix, AZ site.

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering or architecture, with at least 2 years focused on aerospace, defense, or embedded systems (experience)
  • Proven experience in threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and penetration testing methodologies (experience)
  • Familiarity with aerospace security standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, and RTCA DO-326A (experience)
  • Experience with secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) in complex environments (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity or related field (experience)
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or OSCP (experience)
  • Experience with aerospace-specific tools like Wireshark for avionics protocols or embedded device exploitation (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed threat modeling and risk assessments for aerospace products using STRIDE or PASTA methodologies
  • Execute vulnerability scanning, analysis, and penetration testing on embedded systems, firmware, and networked aerospace components
  • Design and architect secure-by-design solutions for avionics, propulsion controls, and IoT-enabled aerospace technologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, hardware, and systems engineers to embed security throughout the product lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain security requirements documentation, test plans, and compliance reports aligned with FAA and EASA regulations
  • Lead red team exercises and blue team defenses to simulate real-world cyber threats to aerospace assets
  • Provide expert guidance on emerging threats like supply chain attacks and zero-day vulnerabilities in aerospace contexts
