Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced electrical architectures for sensor systems, including analog/digital circuits, power management, and signal conditioning.
  • Lead schematic capture, PCB layout, and prototyping using tools like Altium Designer or Cadence Allegro.
  • Perform simulations, tolerance analysis, and validation testing to ensure compliance with industry standards such as IPC and MIL-STD.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including firmware, mechanical, and systems engineers, to integrate sensor solutions into end products.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support manufacturing transition, troubleshooting production issues, and optimizing designs for cost, reliability, and scalability.

Summary

As an Advanced Electrical Design Engr here at Honeywell, you will play a key role in designing and developing innovative sensor solutions within the T&M Sensor Solutions organization. You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Manager, working out of our Columbus, OH location on a Hybrid work schedule.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university (experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design for sensors, instrumentation, or embedded systems (experience)
  • Proven track record in PCB design, schematic capture, and hardware prototyping (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with mixed-signal design, including ADCs, amplifiers, and power supplies (experience)
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) and reliability testing in high-volume production (experience)
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required due to ITAR compliance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Experience with sensor technologies such as MEMS, optical, or pressure sensors (experience)
  • Professional certifications like PE (Professional Engineer) or Six Sigma Green Belt (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and design electrical systems for next-generation sensors, optimizing for performance, size, and power efficiency
  • Develop and execute test plans, including environmental testing (vibration, thermal, EMI/EMC) and failure analysis
  • Collaborate with supply chain to select components and manage BOM for cost-effective designs
  • Lead design reviews and FMEA processes to mitigate risks and ensure robust product lifecycles
  • Integrate firmware and software elements into hardware designs for seamless system functionality
  • Drive innovation through patents, technical papers, and participation in industry conferences
  • Support field applications and customer feedback to iterate on product enhancements
