Overview

Join Honeywell's innovative engineering team in Tempe, AZ, as an Advanced Electrical Engineer. In this pivotal role, you will lead the design and development of complex electrical systems for aerospace and industrial applications. Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will provide technical expertise, conduct feasibility studies, and drive project success by implementing industry best practices. This hybrid position offers flexibility after an initial 90-day onsite onboarding period, allowing you to balance collaboration with remote productivity in a state-of-the-art facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design, simulation, and validation of high-reliability electrical systems, including power distribution, control circuits, and embedded electronics.
  • Conduct detailed feasibility studies, risk assessments, and trade analyses to optimize system performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and systems teams to integrate electrical designs into broader product architectures.
  • Develop and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, and documentation using tools like Altium Designer and Cadence, ensuring compliance with DO-160, MIL-STD, and IPC standards.
  • Perform root cause analysis on electrical failures, implement corrective actions, and support prototype builds and testing in lab and field environments.
  • Drive innovation by staying abreast of emerging technologies in power electronics, signal integrity, and EMC/EMI mitigation.

Summary

As an Advanced Electrical Engineer here at Honeywell, you will lead the design and development of complex electrical systems, provide technical expertise, and ensure project success through feasibility studies and best practices. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Tempe, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule. This role is eligible for hybrid work mode, except for the first 90 days.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited university (experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in electrical systems design and development, preferably in aerospace, defense, or industrial automation (experience)
  • Proven track record of leading complex electrical engineering projects from concept through production (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and simulation tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD, SPICE) (experience)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical standards such as DO-160, MIL-STD-461, and IPC-6012 (experience)
  • Experience with power electronics, analog/digital circuit design, and signal integrity analysis (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or certifications like Six Sigma Green Belt (experience)
  • Experience with high-voltage systems, embedded systems, or RTCA/DO-254 compliance (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced electrical architectures, including power supplies, motor controls, and sensor interfaces for harsh environments
  • Lead feasibility studies, prototyping, and validation testing to ensure system reliability and performance
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems into full product designs and resolve integration challenges
  • Perform detailed simulations, thermal analysis, and EMI/EMC testing using tools like ANSYS and LTSpice
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers while contributing to design reviews and technical documentation
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance design efficiency and reduce time-to-market
  • Support manufacturing transition, troubleshooting, and field support for electrical subsystems
