Advanced Embedded Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement real-time embedded software for microcontrollers and processors used in avionics, IoT devices, and industrial controls.
  • Develop low-level drivers, firmware, and middleware using C/C++ and RTOS such as FreeRTOS or VxWorks.
  • Perform hardware-software integration, debugging, and optimization to ensure compliance with safety standards like DO-178C and MISRA.
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and system-level validation using tools like JTAG debuggers and oscilloscopes.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, systems architects, and product managers to define requirements and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead code reviews to maintain high code quality and best practices.
  • Support product lifecycle from concept through deployment, including root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Proven expertise in C/C++ programming for resource-constrained embedded environments (experience)
  • Experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks) and bare-metal programming (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN) (experience)
  • Familiarity with embedded testing tools and methodologies (e.g., unit testing frameworks, static analysis) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline (experience)
  • Certifications such as ARM Accredited Engineer or ISTQB for embedded testing (experience)
  • Experience with aerospace standards (DO-178C, ARP4754A) or automotive (AUTOSAR, ISO 26262) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop embedded firmware for microcontrollers in aerospace and industrial IoT applications
  • Implement and optimize real-time algorithms for sensor data processing and control systems
  • Integrate peripheral drivers and communication stacks while ensuring low-latency performance
  • Lead debugging efforts using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers to resolve hardware-software issues
  • Perform code reviews, static analysis, and maintain MISRA compliance for production-grade software
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate system requirements into embedded implementations
  • Contribute to continuous integration pipelines and automated testing for embedded systems
