Advanced Embedded Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement advanced embedded software and firmware for microcontrollers and real-time operating systems (RTOS) in safety-critical applications.
  • Develop low-level drivers, board support packages (BSP), and hardware abstraction layers (HAL) to interface with sensors, actuators, and communication protocols.
  • Perform system-level optimization, debugging, and testing using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers to ensure compliance with DO-178C or ISO 26262 standards.
  • Lead integration of embedded systems with cloud platforms and IoT frameworks for data analytics and predictive maintenance.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, firmware teams, and product managers to define requirements and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and static analysis to maintain high code quality and reliability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to agile development processes, including CI/CD pipelines for embedded deployments.

  • Proven experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks) and bare-metal programming (experience)
  • Strong knowledge of embedded C/C++, ARM Cortex-M processors, and peripheral interfacing (experience)
  • Experience with embedded testing, debugging, and certification standards like MISRA C (experience)
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment with excellent problem-solving skills (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems or related field (experience)
  • Certifications such as ARM Accredited Engineer or ISTQB for embedded testing (experience)
  • Experience with aerospace protocols (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553) or automotive functional safety (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop embedded firmware for resource-constrained microcontrollers targeting real-time performance
  • Implement communication stacks including CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, and UART for system integration
  • Optimize power consumption and memory usage through profiling and advanced algorithms
  • Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of hardware-software integration issues
  • Develop automated test frameworks using Python or Ceedling for regression and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
  • Document designs, APIs, and compliance reports for regulatory audits
  • Stay updated with industry trends in edge computing and embedded AI
