Advanced Embedded Engineer

Location: India | Workplace: On-site

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Embedded Engineer to join our innovative engineering team in India. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize embedded systems for cutting-edge applications in aerospace, industrial automation, and safety-critical systems. As part of Honeywell’s global R&D organization, you will contribute to next-generation products that enhance performance, reliability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement advanced embedded software for real-time systems using C/C++ on microcontrollers and ARM-based processors.
  • Develop and debug low-level drivers, firmware, and RTOS-based applications for safety-critical environments (e.g., DO-178C compliant systems).
  • Perform hardware-software integration, optimization, and performance tuning to meet stringent power, memory, and latency requirements.
  • Conduct thorough testing, including unit, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations, to ensure robustness and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, systems architects, and product managers, to deliver scalable embedded solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead technical reviews to drive innovation and best practices in embedded development.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in embedded systems, IoT, and edge computing to propose improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field from a recognized university (experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development for real-time systems (experience)
  • Proven track record working with microcontrollers (e.g., STM32, NXP) and ARM Cortex processors (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, VxWorks) and bare-metal programming (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, Ethernet) (experience)
  • Experience with safety-critical standards like DO-178C, ISO 26262, or MISRA compliance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or related field (experience)
  • Certifications such as ARM Accredited Engineer or ISTQB for embedded testing (experience)
  • Experience with embedded Linux, Yocto, or device drivers for Linux kernel (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-performance embedded firmware using C/C++ for resource-constrained environments
  • Implement and optimize communication protocols and interfaces for sensor integration and data acquisition
  • Lead debugging and root-cause analysis using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and JTAG debuggers
  • Develop automated test frameworks and perform regression testing for embedded applications
  • Collaborate with hardware teams to define board bring-up procedures and system-level integration
  • Document designs, APIs, and test results adhering to Honeywell’s quality and configuration management processes
  • Prototype and evaluate new embedded technologies to support product roadmaps
