Advanced Embedded Engineer

Location: India | Workplace: Hybrid

Working in a hybrid environment, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, real-time solutions that drive Honeywell's leadership in intelligent systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement embedded software for microcontrollers and processors using C/C++ in resource-constrained environments.
  • Develop and integrate real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS or VxWorks for safety-critical applications.
  • Perform firmware debugging, optimization, and testing using tools like JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Lead the development of drivers for peripherals including sensors, actuators, and communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN).
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless hardware-software integration and compliance with industry standards like MISRA and DO-178C.
  • Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and system-level validation to ensure high reliability and performance.
  • Support product lifecycle from concept through deployment, including documentation and maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in embedded systems development (experience)
  • Proven expertise in C/C++ programming for embedded applications (experience)
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and microcontroller architectures (ARM, AVR, etc.) (experience)
  • Strong understanding of embedded hardware protocols and interfaces (experience)
  • Familiarity with embedded testing methodologies and tools (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, or related field (experience)
  • Certifications such as ARM Accredited Engineer or ISTQB Embedded Tester (experience)
  • Experience in aerospace or industrial automation domains with knowledge of safety standards (DO-178C, ISO 26262) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop low-level embedded firmware for complex control systems
  • Optimize algorithms for power efficiency and real-time performance in constrained environments
  • Integrate communication protocols (Ethernet, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) for IoT-enabled devices
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for hardware-software issues
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct peer code reviews to maintain code quality
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, QA, and product management
  • Document designs, APIs, and test procedures for regulatory compliance
