Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate real-time embedded software for avionics systems using C, C++, and Ada.
  • Implement DO-178C compliant software architectures for safety-critical flight deck applications.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing, and verification using tools like VectorCAST and LDRA.
  • Optimize low-level drivers and middleware for ARM-based processors and RTOS environments such as VxWorks or Green Hills INTEGRITY.
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, and certification teams to ensure seamless system integration and FAA/EASA compliance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software issues in simulated and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to software process improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded software development for safety-critical systems, preferably in avionics or aerospace (experience)
  • Proven experience with DO-178B/C certification processes and requirements traceability (experience)
  • Strong proficiency in C, C++, and real-time operating systems (RTOS) like VxWorks or INTEGRITY (experience)
  • Experience with embedded debugging tools, static analysis, and model-based development (e.g., Simulink) (experience)
  • U.S. Person status (due to ITAR/EAR export control requirements) (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (experience)
  • DO-178C DAL A project experience or ARP4754A systems knowledge (experience)
  • Familiarity with avionics communication protocols (ARINC 429, 664, MIL-STD-1553) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement embedded software modules for next-generation flight deck systems adhering to DO-178C standards
  • Develop and maintain low-level drivers, board support packages, and middleware for multi-core ARM processors
  • Conduct rigorous unit, integration, and system-level testing using automated frameworks and HIL simulators
  • Analyze and resolve software anomalies in real-time embedded environments under strict timing constraints
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define software requirements and support aircraft certification efforts
  • Optimize code for performance, power efficiency, and deterministic behavior in safety-critical applications
  • Document designs, generate compliance evidence, and participate in peer reviews and design assurance activities
