Overview

Honeywell's SETS (Safety and Environmental Test Systems) division is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Field Service Engineer to join our team in Suzhou, China. In this critical role, you will provide expert technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for advanced test and measurement systems used in aerospace, automotive, and industrial applications. As part of our global IA (Industrial Automation) organization, you will ensure the highest levels of system performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction for Honeywell's cutting-edge environmental test chambers, data acquisition systems, and safety certification equipment. This hybrid position offers a dynamic blend of on-site customer engagements, lab-based diagnostics, and remote collaboration, driving innovation in mission-critical testing solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced on-site installations, commissioning, and upgrades of Honeywell SETS equipment, ensuring seamless integration with customer infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in environmental test systems, including vibration, thermal, and pressure simulation hardware, minimizing downtime.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, calibration, and performance optimization for field-deployed systems, adhering to ISO and industry safety standards.
  • Develop and execute customized service plans, including root cause analysis and failure mode mitigation for high-reliability applications.
  • Train customer engineers on system operation, troubleshooting, and best practices to enhance operational autonomy.
  • Collaborate with R&D, product management, and global service teams to provide field insights for product improvements and new feature development.
  • Maintain detailed service reports, documentation, and compliance records using Honeywell's digital service platforms.

  • Experience with environmental testing standards (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD, IEC) and safety protocols (experience)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% and work in hybrid on-site/remote settings (experience)
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese, with strong technical documentation skills (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline (experience)
  • Certifications such as Certified Field Service Engineer (CFSE), Six Sigma Green Belt, or relevant vendor-specific training (e.g., NI, Siemens) (experience)
  • Experience with Honeywell or competitor test systems (e.g., MTS, Crystal Instruments) (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Execute advanced field installations and commissioning of SETS environmental test chambers and data acquisition systems
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of hardware/software failures in high-stakes testing environments
  • Perform system calibrations, upgrades, and retrofits to meet evolving customer requirements and standards
  • Deliver technical training sessions and create user guides for client teams
  • Interface with cross-functional teams to relay field data for product enhancements and reliability improvements
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and generate comprehensive service documentation
  • Monitor and optimize remote system performance using Honeywell's IoT-enabled diagnostics tools
