Job Overview

As an Advanced Hardware Engineer within the CN&S group, you will play a pivotal role in the development and advancement of Next-Generation Aircraft 3D Radar technologies. Reporting directly to our Senior Engineering Manager in Phoenix, AZ, you will work on a hybrid schedule, blending cutting-edge engineering with collaborative team dynamics. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of aviation surveillance systems, ensuring safer and more efficient air traffic management worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, and prototype advanced RF hardware architectures for 3D radar systems, optimizing for performance, size, weight, and power (SWaP).
  • Lead hardware integration and testing efforts, including environmental qualification and flight certification processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, systems architects, and certification specialists, to deliver robust radar solutions.
  • Perform detailed signal integrity analysis, PCB layout reviews, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing.
  • Drive innovation in radar technologies, incorporating GaN amplifiers, phased array antennas, and digital beamforming techniques.
  • Support production ramp-up by resolving manufacturing issues and implementing design-for-manufacturability principles.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical roadmaps for next-generation CN&S products.

As an Advanced Hardware Engineer within the Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (CN&S) group, you will contribute to the development and advancement of Next-Generation Aircraft 3D Radar technologies. You will report directly to our Sr Engineering Manager working out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a Hybrid work schedule

60,000 - 120,000 USD / yearly

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited university (experience)
  • 5+ years of professional experience in RF/microwave hardware design for aerospace or defense applications (experience)
  • Proven track record in developing radar or surveillance systems, including 3D radar technologies (experience)
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and signal generators (experience)
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required due to ITAR compliance (experience)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (experience)
  • Experience with phased array radar systems or AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) technology (experience)
  • Familiarity with DO-160 environmental standards and FAA certification processes (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement RF front-ends, including transmitters, receivers, and antennas for 3D radar applications
  • Conduct simulations using tools like HFSS, ADS, or MATLAB to validate hardware designs
  • Lead hardware bring-up, debugging, and performance optimization in lab and field environments
  • Collaborate with firmware and software teams to integrate radar hardware with digital processing subsystems
  • Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations to enhance system reliability
  • Develop documentation, including design reports, test plans, and compliance matrices
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and contribute to patentable innovations in radar hardware
