Key Responsibilities

  • Design and draft mechanical components for navigation and sensor products using CREO Parametric, ensuring precision and manufacturability.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using NX Simcenter for thermal and structural validation to optimize product performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to integrate designs into production.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and design reviews to mitigate risks and enhance product robustness.
  • Support prototyping, testing, and iteration based on test data and customer requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in design processes.

Summary

As an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies you will be critical in the mechanical design process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and reliable navigation and sensor products. Your responsibilities will include the mechanical design and drafting of our navigation and sensor products using CREO Parametric. You will also conduct Finite Element Analysis to validate designs, performing thermal and structural analysis to optimize product performance using NX Simcenter. You will report directly to our Mechanical Engineering Manager, and you will work out of our Minneapolis, MN location on a Hybrid work schedule.

  • Proficiency in CREO Parametric for 3D modeling and drafting (experience)
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using NX Simcenter or equivalent for thermal and structural analysis (experience)
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and mechanical design principles (experience)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (experience)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (experience)
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification (experience)
  • Experience with navigation systems, sensors, or avionics hardware (experience)

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed mechanical designs and assemblies for navigation and sensor products using CREO Parametric
  • Perform advanced FEA simulations in NX Simcenter to validate thermal, structural, and vibration performance
  • Conduct design reviews, DFMEA, and tolerance analyses to ensure design robustness and manufacturability
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical designs with electrical and software systems
  • Support prototype fabrication, testing, and failure analysis to refine product designs
  • Document designs, analyses, and test results in compliance with aerospace standards (e.g., DO-160, AS9100)
  • Drive innovation in design processes and mentor junior team members on best practices
